Background

The prevalence of allergic and immune disorders is not only high but also has been growing worldwide. In recent years, its morbidity gained global attention due to its worldwide rising prevalence, especially in developed countries such as the USA and Western Europe. Korea is not an exception; allergic disorders have been steadily increasing over time.
In 1997, the Institute of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (IACI) was established under the Medical Research Center of Seoul National University in order to resolve medical concerns about allergy in Korea. As a leading group of allergy and clinical immunology in Korea, IACI aims to raise our research capability to the level of international competitiveness and to carry out advanced researches.
To date IACI has successfully conducted lots of investigations and studies on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and pathogenesis of allergic and immune disorders by experienced researchers and experts. IACI seeks for the progressive approach to the precise diagnosis and practical treatments.
