Established in 1989, the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering works for a variety of medical research and medical device development tasks to conduct medical research on basic medicine and clinical medicine, localization of medical equipment and the development and research of advanced medical devices.
In particular, the Institute has focused on developing practical skills through joint industry-university research and development, leading to commercialization of Korean artificial heart and unbounded biometric technology and domestic production of insulin pump development and blood glucose meter. In addition, by adopting the rapidly developing ICT technology to the medical field, the Institute has derived many research results for the processing of hospital medical information and the application of artificial intelligence technology to the medical field.
The Institute also conducts future-oriented research such as drug delivery system using micro-nano technology, bio-organic technology based on 3D printing technology, advanced diagnosis and treatment technology based on microfluidic technology, in vitro diagnosis and multi-biomic biomarker research.
The Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering will strive to conduct researches on new medical engineering technologies and develop innovative medical devices to respond to the rapid changes in future medical technologies.
We look forward to your continued support for the development of the Institute.
Jin-Wook Choi, Director of the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering
