The institute conducts both basic research and clinical research. The basic research focuses on the development of the latest radiopharmaceuticals, image analysis techniques, and molecular imaging techniques using nanoparticles, on the researches on the biological effects of radiation and its effective protection to minimize side effects of radiation exposure, and on the understanding of cancer cells. The clinical research aims to achieve the maximum diagnostic and treatment effect with the minimum radiation dose by precise radiation therapy and intervention using the state-of-the-art medical equipment. In particular, the institute is devoted to research for the application of the 4th industrial-revolution technologies to radiation medicine such as 3D printing and artificial intelligence.
